Collaborating for Menstrual Health and Feminine Hygiene Day in the Upper East Region

Dear Partners,

Menstruation and menstrual management are issues that are hardly discussed among adults and adolescents in Ghana due to varied socio-cultural beliefs, perceptions and practices regarding this natural phenomenon. Over the years, Society for Empowerment and Social Justice has been working on different programs to improve young people access to youth friendly services including menstrual health and education in the Upper East Region.

Last year, 28th May 2018, the organization in collaboration with Days for Girls International celebrated menstrual hygiene day at Gbeogo school for the deaf in the Talensi District of the upper east region. Over 300 young women between the ages of 12-19 benefited from menstrual health education, distribution of re-usable sanitary pads, and self defense training.

This year, we wish to celebrate menstrual hygiene day in the Bawku west district (Zabilla). This program is targeting a cluster of junior high school girls between the ages of 12-19 and over 400 girls to benefit. There will be distribution of reusable sanitary pads, feminine hygiene education and sexual and domestic violence prevention awareness talks.

The society for Empowerment and Society Justice seeks your collaboration to make this happen, we write to ask for your support to buy sanitary pads and other logistics.

Thank you in advance for your support.
